Final rose not accepted. In Bachelor Nation, 2020 has consisted of the shocking end to Peter Weber‘s season of The Bachelor, the announcement of a new Bachelorette and then the season being delayed. Once The Bachelorette — with Clare Crawley at its helm — began, she chose to leave and Tayshia Adams was brought in.
Amidst all of that, Matt James was announced as the new Bachelor for a season that won’t air until 2021.
However, Bachelor Nation is all about finding love. Unfortunately, 2020 has seen quite a bit of heartbreak. Such an interesting beginning — like finding love on national television — sometimes ends up being the reason for the split.
“I think one of the biggest issues was me going from one show to the next, with really no time to process,” Chris Randone told Us Weekly exclusively of his split from Krystal Nielson. The pair, who met on Bachelor in Paradise and married in June 2019, announced their split in February. “Because I think after I got eliminated from [Becca Kufrin’s] season [of The Bachelorette], it was only a couple of weeks where I was back on another show. But I traveled back, my sister had a baby, and then I literally was back on a plane to Mexico.”
For others, being in the public eye makes it tougher to handle the split. Kufrin tearfully revealed that she and Garrett Yrigoyen had called it quits in September, via her “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast.
“It’s really hard to be sitting here talking with you all today and admitting this because I don’t think anyone is prepped for giving a public statement for a breakup,” she said at the time. “We went on this crazy TV show over two years ago in hopes of finding love, and we were lucky enough that we did,” the season 14 Bachelorette continued. “We really, truly did. I’m so grateful for that opportunity and to have had the two-plus years with Garrett. Like I said, I still have so much love and compassion in my heart for him. Just because we’ve arrived at this decision now doesn’t take away all of the years and the countless memories that we’ve made together. I will always look back at this time in my life with so much gratitude and love.”

On New Year's Eve, Weber shared via Instagram that he and Flanagan had broken up. "Kelley is someone I will always have a special love for," he wrote at the time. "These moments in life always hurt, but in my opinion that shows you it was worth the time you spent together."

The couple, who met on season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise in 2016, announced their separation in December 2020 after three years of marriage. The pair share two children, daughter Bella and son Charlie.

The pair, who met during season 7 of The Bachelorette and married in 2012, announced their separation in October 2020. "Please please please know that there is no one to blame, that there’s no event that triggered this decision, that no one is the victim, and that we’ve done absolutely everything we possibly can to try to salvage this marriage,” he wrote via Instagram at the time. “I think we’ve both come to realize that we are just two very different people, with very different personalities and perspectives, who just don’t see eye to eye on a lot life fundamentals, those which are the building blocks for a happy and healthy marriage.”

The season 24 Bachelor contestant and the season 19 Bachelor started seeing each other in April 2020, but their romance fizzled by that September.
“I still talk to him all the time. I think he’s amazing. We are a lot alike, but I just want to focus on myself right now,” she told Nick Viall on his “Viall Files” podcast, noting that she wasn’t open to moving to Soules’ farm in Arlington, Iowa, “anytime soon.”

After months of speculation, Kufrin announced in September that she and Yrigoyen had ended their engagement after two years together. "All that we will share is that we still have nothing but love and respect for one another even though we’ve decided to go down our own separate paths," she wrote via Instagram at the time. "While we’ve arrived at this point, it doesn’t diminish the countless, amazing memories made together." The couple got engaged during the finale of season 14 of The Bachelorette in 2018.

The Bachelor in Paradise alum and her boyfriend split in June after five months of dating. They remained close friends after the split, she explained during the "Big Demi Energy" podcast the next month. "We’ve hung out some and he has been wonderful. He’s been really great, we’ve been great together, we’ve probably laughed more in the past couple weeks than we have the past few months," she said. "It’s no pressure, friends, hanging out, getting along. It’s definitely put me in a better place, and I’m really happy with where we’re at."

“It’s been a crazy few months to say the least, Cass and I have been doing a lot of self-reflecting,” the 28 former Bachelor wrote via Instagram in May. "Sometimes people are just meant to be friends – and that’s okay. We both have grown immensely and been through so much together – so this isn’t the end of our story, it’s the start of a whole new chapter for us.” In turn, she shared a similar post. Underwood and Randolph met while filming season 23 of The Bachelor and although there was some post-show drama, they remain friends. Underwood plans to add a chapter to his book, The First Time: Finding Myself and Looking for Love on Reality TV, that will address more of what happened.
Nearly two months after Randolph was granted a restraining order against Underwood, accusing him of harassment and stalking, he revealed she filed to drop their legal case.
“Today Cassie asked the court to dismiss the temporary restraining order against me,” he told Us in a statement in November 2020. “The two of us were able to reach a private agreement to address any of Cassie’s concerns. I do not believe Cassie did anything wrong in filing for the restraining orders and also believe she acted in good faith. I appreciate everyone’s respect for privacy regarding this matter.”

After breaking up on The Bachelor, Madison and Peter gave their relationship another shot after the live After the Final Rose ceremony in March. However, just two days later, they shared via social media they had split. "Madi, thank you for your patience and unconditional love. You’re the epitome of a woman who carries herself with grace, stands by what she believes in, and loves whole heartedly. That love is something I feel so grateful to have felt and will take a piece of that with me always going forward,” the season 24 Bachelor wrote via Instagram at the time. “Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further. Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure." Weber later moved on with Kelley Flanagan, who also competed on his season.

After nearly eight months of marriage, the pair — who met on season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise — announced their split on Valentine's Day. "It hurts to announce that at this moment, we have mutually decided to separate. Never did we imagine this scenario, but we’ve come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves,” they said in a statement on February 14. "We are best friends that love and care for each other so deeply. We’ve appreciated everyone’s love and support so far throughout our journey and we just ask that you please respect our privacy as we navigate through this.” In August, Randone told Us exclusively that although he had hoped they'd get back together, Nielson filed for divorce.

In January, the pair — who met and fell in love during season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise in 2018 — announced they had decided to separate. Amabile wanted to move back to Chicago and Long wanted to stay in Los Angeles. "We can’t imagine continuing our lives without them closer, especially when thinking of starting a family of our own one day," the statement read. "We both respect each other's decision and still have a great deal of love for each other."
