Celebrity Relationships, Hookups We Didn't See Coming in 2020

It’s safe to say 2020 has been full of surprises — and before the clock strikes midnight on Thursday, January 31, Us Weekly is breaking down the most shocking relationships and hookups of the year.

While Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green seemingly rang in 2020 as a couple, news broke in May that the twosome split ahead of their 10th wedding anniversary. That same month, the actress was spotted cuddling up to her Midnight in the Switchgrass costar Machine Gun Kelly (real name: Colson Baker). Fox and Green share three sons: Noah, 8, Bodhi, 6, and Journey, 4.

Several months later, the Jennifer’s Body star filed for divorce and claimed they separated in November 2019. The Beverly Hills, 90210, alum, however, listed their date of separation as March 5, 2020.

As Fox solidified her relationship with the “Bloody Valentine” singer, Green was spotted spending time with several ladies in 2020, including Courtney Stodden, Tina Louise and Sharna Burgess.

“I actually am not on the market anymore. But it’s very new and very, you know, it’s dating, essentially. No one’s calling us a relationship yet,” the Dancing With the Stars pro teased to Us Weekly before the pair were spotted heading off on vacation in December. “I thought that when I met someone, I would be, like, screaming it from the mountain tops and telling everyone I’m in love. It’s almost the opposite. I want to hold it close to me for as long as I can, to stay in this space and just enjoy that human for as much as I can.”

Fox and Green aren’t the only ones whose relationship statuses changed in 2020. While Scott Disick and Sofia Richie were still going strong earlier this year, the twosome ended their on-again, off-again romance for good in September. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has since moved on with Amelia Hamlin, who is 18 years younger than him.

Us confirmed in November that Disick’s longtime friend Marie Lou Bartolithe twin sister of Disick’s ex Chloe Bartoli — introduced him to Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin’s youngest daughter.

“Scott and Amelia are good friends and hit it off right away,” the source told Us.

Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Kris

After months of speculation about her marriage to Sean Burke, the Real Housewives of Orange County star came out as a lesbian in December.

“I got married very young and I never thought about it. … I’m just now starting to feel like I’m becoming the woman I was supposed to be,” she told GLAAD at the time. “So, for me to be living completely authentically and say, ‘I’m a lesbian. That was who I have always been.’ This isn’t something that is new ‘cause that, I think, is what a lot of people will think. ‘Oh, suddenly you’re one.’ No, I’ve always known it. But it took me personally 42 years to be comfortable enough in my own skin to say that.”

Windham-Burke, who shares seven kids with Sean, subsequently introduced fans to her girlfriend, Kris.

“Sean and I are still married. I plan on staying married … we’re raising the kids together. He’s my best friend,” she said. “[All three of us] go to parties together! She came over the other night, hung out with the family, had dinner with us. I mean, it’s only as weird as you make it.”

Chrishell Stause and Keo Motsepe

While some DWTS viewers were convinced that the Selling Sunset star and her season 29 partner Gleb Savchenko were more than friends, news broke in December that she was seeing his friend Motsepe.

Savchenko, who split from wife Elena Samodanova in November, joined the new couple on vacation with his new flame, Cassie Scerbo, earlier this month.

Peter Weber and Kelley Flanagan

After the pilot broke off his engagement to season 24 Bachelor winner Hannah Ann Sluss because he still had feelings for runner-up Madison Prewett, fans assumed that Weber and the Alabama native would give things a shot. Two days after the March finale, however, Weber and Prewett confirmed they were over for good. Us broke the news in April that he was dating Flanagan, who finished in fifth place during his season of the ABC series.

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox

Fox called the musician her “twin flame” during their first joint interview in July.

“Instead of a soul mate, a twin flame is actually where a soul has ascended into a high enough level that it can be split into two different bodies at the same time. So, we’re actually two halves of the same soul, I think,” she said at the time. “And I said that to him almost immediately because I felt it right away.”

Chris Soules and Victoria Fuller

After the Bachelor season 24 contestant secretly spent several months at the season 19 Bachelor’s farm in Iowa, they confirmed their relationship in July. While Fuller said in September that the pair went in “a separate direction,” Soules claimed in November that they were still “working” on things.

Brian Austin Green and Tina Louise

Green spent the summer months hanging out with Louise before he was seen with Burgess.

“Tina is really an intelligent woman. She is the one who approached me and she said to me, 'With the craziness going around you and Megan and the whole situation, I think what would be best for you is to take some time with just your kids and yourself and really work on just being alone and healing yourself. And going through that,'" the actor said on the “Hollywood Raw with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn” podcast in August. "That was cool coming from her. She didn't need to say something like that, she didn't have to say something that would exclude so much from my life."
