Roasted! MLB Star Garrett Mitchell and Wife Haley's Relationship Timeline

A match made in baseball heaven. MLB player Garrett Mitchell and wife Haley Cruse Mitchell have cemented themselves as one of the league’s sweetest (and funniest) couples.

The two began dating in early 2020 before Garrett — who previously played for the University of California — signed with the Milwaukee Brewers in June of that year. “MY BOY IS A BREWER!!!!” Haley wrote via Twitter at the time alongside pics of herself and her then-boyfriend. “@GarrettMitchell5 there is no one more deserving! Keep proving them wrong, I am so proud of you.”

Haley is also a former college athlete, having previously played for the University of Oregon’s softball team the Oregon Ducks before going pro. She officially joined the USSSA Pride softball team in June 2021, one month after Garrett popped the question.”

“Haley Mitchell has a nice ring to it 💍 easiest yes I’ve ever said!!!” she captioned the May 2021 pics from their proposal via Instagram at the time. “Here’s to forever with the love of my life 🥰 #engaged.”

The couple tied the knot in Garrett’s home state of California in December 2021, and they have since become parents to their dogs Jack Jack and Dash.

In December 2022, Garrett commemorated their first wedding anniversary with a sweet Instagram post dedicated to his wife. “Wow, crazy to think how quickly a year has flown by with you. I’m so thankful for the journey that we have started and will continue for the rest of our lives,” the left fielder wrote. “Thank you for constantly challenging me, pushing me to be better than I ever thought I could be, and being my rock when times get hard. There is no one else who makes me feel more loved, heard and appreciated.”

He added: “Through all the good and the bad, the one constant I know I will always have no matter where life takes us is you. I love you so much angel. Cheers to many more. Happy 1st anniversary my love.”

Haley, for her part, did the same via her own Instagram. “One year down with the man who always makes me feel safe, cherished, and seen,” she wrote in December 2022. “The man who always fights fair, makes me laugh so hard I can’t make a sound, and challenges me to be the best version of myself. The man who is unapologetically himself. And most importantly, the man whose name consists of 4 first names.”

She continued: “Garrett Antony Charles Mitchell, I love who I am with you. I continue to learn more about you everyday [sic] and I can’t wait to keep learning for the rest of our lives. Loving you is the easiest thing I’ve ever done. Happy anniversary – the first of many.”

In April 2023, the pair made headlines after Garrett poked fun at his wife in a post-game interview. “When my wife doesn’t show up to the games, usually something good happens. … [I thought] ‘She’s not here, so might as well do something fun,” he admitted to Bally Sports Wisconsin after beating the New York Mets.

Haley hilariously called out her husband’s remarks via Twitter after the game, writing, “You won’t say it to my face tho.” Responding to her own tweet, she later added, “He did not stutter. Meanwhile I missed the game because I was busy STOCKING HIS FRIDGE.”

May 2020
The two began dating in 2020. In May of that year, Garrett celebrated his future wife's birthday by sharing a pic of them via Instagram. "Happy Birthday to the craziest, funniest, most genuine and loving person I know," he captioned the post. "You are truly a light in the darkness. I watch and smile as you give people hope and happiness and bring laughter to so many. Thank you for showing me the true meaning of love and how to be the best version of myself.
