It’s safe to say Austen Kroll and Madison LeCroy’s on-again, off-again romance has earned a spot in messy Bravo relationship history.
Southern Charm fans met LeCroy, a single mother of son Hudson, during season 6 of the Bravo series after she started dating Kroll, who joined the cast during season 4 in 2017. After the season 6 reunion aired in August 2019, the hairdresser told Us Weekly that the twosome’s relationship was “complicated” at the moment. That November, however, Kroll told Us at BravoCon that they were giving things another shot.
“Madison and I have certainly tried to go our own ways, and we just find ourselves back with each other. I go to other people and I’m like, ‘They just suck. And you suck, and you suck,’” he told Us at the time. “She’s just my person. And I’m telling myself to quit fighting it. And it’s just not cut-and-dried sometimes. I mean, I think that you love someone like this maybe only once in your life. So, it would be silly to walk away from it. Until all options are exhausted, Madison will be my person.”
Kroll and LeCroy started shooting season 7 of Southern Charm in February 2020. As production halted amid the coronavirus pandemic, the twosome argued about how best to handle the COVID-19 crisis. While LeCroy stayed home with her son, Kroll tested positive for coronavirus after partying in Charleston, South Carolina.
“Austen’s behavior during the shutdown was heavy on the drinking, sleeping until noon and then playing video games,” LeCroy quipped during a December 2020 episode of the show. “Sorry, but major turnoff for me. We are on two different wavelengths here.”
As the pair’s tumultuous relationship continued to play out on the show, the salon owner exclusively told Us in December 2020 that she and Kroll split for good.
“We are not together right now. I am 1,000 percent single, and so is he,” she told Us. “So, ladies, if you want him, you can have him.”
Kroll, for his part, told Us that watching the show back was “like being able to see [the signs] just right in front of my face.” He explained in December 2020: “I was like, ‘Austen, what are you doing?’ What you’re seeing [on TV] happened back in May, June, July. People assume that we broke up yesterday.”
While their relationship may be over, the drama between Kroll and LeCroy is just getting started — and Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler have found themselves in the middle of the former couple. Scroll through for a breakdown of everything we know:

“I definitely think that quarantine was either gonna make it or break [our] relationship, and unfortunately, we did not come out stronger,” LeCroy told Us in December 2020. “We weren’t even in quarantine together. We did for a short period of time, and then I think we both realized that maybe there was just too many things that had happened in the past for us to actually play house for 14 days or whatever it was.”

Shep Rose’s college friend joined the cast of Southern Charm for season 7 — and expressed interest in LeCroy. After Kroll warned him on the series that there was a “guy code,” he told Us that Pringle and LeCroy’s flirting added “insult to injury” after their split. He added that seeing LeCroy’s behavior during the second half of the season “broke [his] heart.”

Kroll and costar Craig Conover made headlines in October 2020 for hanging out with Cavallari, six months after she and Cutler pulled the plug on their seven-year marriage. “She came to town with her friend Justin [Anderson] and the four of us [with Craig] had dinner,” Kroll told Us at the time. “We’ve all been in contact ever since. We’re in this, like, big old group chat, and the group chat is active. We had a blast with them and I’m gonna take a trip to see them in Nashville sometime soon.”
After Anderson snapped a pic of the group, LeCroy commented, “Hate I couldn’t see you guys!”

The following month, however, LeCroy seemingly changed her tune when it came to Cavallari. After Cutler posted a photo with his estranged wife’s ex-employee Shannon Ford in November 2020, she commented on the pic, “See y’all soon.” (Cavallari and Ford, who appeared on season 1 of Very Cavallari, are not on good terms.)
In December 2020, LeCroy also replied to a CommentsByCelebs post that documented Kroll’s flirty comment on Cavallari’s pic. “Yeah, trust me if he was with her, he wouldn’t be sending me songs at midnight. bless,” she wrote. That same month, she spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her remark.
“I think he’s trying to get under my skin, which is fine. And, like, honestly? If he can pull her, go for it. Knock yourself out. I’d be shocked,” LeCroy said. “I just think it was just trying to get [a rise], get a comment out of me — and he did.”

LeCroy and Kroll joined their costars to tape the season 7 reunion with Andy Cohen in December 2020.
"I remember calling someone 'trash' about 25 times and changing their name to 'trash can,’” Conover said during an appearance with Kroll on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in December 2020. “I think you guys are in for a heck of a ride. It was a lot. It's a reunion full of truth bombs."
While he didn’t name names, Cohen seemingly confirmed he was talking about LeCroy, noting, "Austen and Madison are an infinity circle of toxicity.”
Kroll, for his part, called the taping “emotionally taxing.” The following month, LeCroy teased that she is “still speechless” after the reunion.
“Right now I can say I have nothing nice to say about a lot of the people there,” she said. “And I’m just gonna keep my mouth shut for now.”

Days after the reunion taped in December 2020, Kroll and Conover flew to Nashville to see Cavallari. The Kings Calling Brewing owner told Us that month that they are just friends.
“There is no Austen and Kristin. … Kristin is a beautiful, driven girl, clearly, [and that’s] what I’m attracted to,” he told Us. “But she has a lot on her plate, you know, she’s going through her own stuff.”

Austen told Us on December 16, 2020, that he and LeCroy were not on speaking terms, adding that he is still “heartbroken” over their breakup. “It’s like I cut off my addiction cold turkey,” he said. “It just hasn’t been easy.”

In late December 2020, Kroll slammed LeCroy after a social media user claimed she could do much better than him.
“Madison can do better than both these drunks … I mean dudes,” the user commented on a photo of Kroll and Pringle.
Kroll subsequently fired back, “Patricia’s hairdresser can do better than me and Pringle? I die.”
The troll then praised LeCroy, writing, “What Madison needs is a man not a frat boy. She’s already got one boy to take care of … Girls want frat boys, WOMEN want MEN.”
Kroll responded for a second time, writing, “Aka the biggest blue check mark she can find.”

After LeCroy’s WWHL appearance, a source told Us that the Bravo star has a “new, flirty thing” with the former athlete. “It’s nothing serious at this point,” the insider said. “But they’re having fun getting to know each other.”

In January 2021, LeCroy told Cohen that her last conversation with Kroll ended with her texting him, “I hate you.”
“We have not seen each other since the reunion,” she said. “I think him downplaying me as an entrepreneur and just being very rude to me and saying a lot of nasty things that weren’t true, especially at the reunion. It was already done before then, but he put the nail on the head with that one.”
After the host also asked LeCroy how she felt about Kroll and Cavallari’s social media posts, she told Cohen that she “was busy having [her] own adventure.” When asked whether this was “an adventure of the Jay Cutler kind,” she replied, “I’m not kissing and telling.”

A few weeks later, Cutler and Cavallari slammed LeCroy for making fun of the former MTV star via Instagram Live.
“The world is full of users. 10 years. Can’t break that,” Cutler and Cavallari wrote alongside a photo of them on their respective Instagram accounts.
After LeCroy put Cutler on blast by sharing their alleged text messages, the Bravo personality announced her plans to tell-all during an upcoming podcast appearance.

Months after all the relationship drama, LeCroy spoke with Us Weekly exclusively and cleared the air regarding rumors about the men she dates.
“I mean, I have my own money," she shared in June 2021. "I don’t need to date somebody that has you know … I’m not a gold digger, don’t y’all know that? I dated Austen."
