There’s a song in Katharine McPhee’s heart! The American Idol alum and David Foster got engaged in July 2018, a little more than a year after the world caught wind of her relationship with the music producer.
At the time, Foster was finalizing his divorce from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Yolanda Hadid. Meanwhile, McPhee had recently ended her two-year relationship with Scorpion costar Elyes Gabel. The twosome exchanged vows in London in June 2019.

After Foster and McPhee sparked dating speculation in May 2017, his daughter Erin appeared to confirm the relationship by posting a photo of the couple to Instagram and telling followers she was excited about her “new stepmom.”

McPhee was by the songwriter’s side as he was honored at a Grammy Museum Gala on September 19, 2017. Within the next two months, they stepped out together for his 68th birthday party in Los Angeles and for a Lakers game.

McPhee seemed to mince her words in her cover story for Health’s December 2017 issue. “I’m really, really fond of him, and I think he’s an incredible person,” she said of Foster. “I’ve known him since I was 21 years old, you know? He produced my first single. So he’s been really good to me. People can say whatever they want.”

In December 2017, Foster’s daughter Sara Foster exclusively told Us Weekly she and her siblings were Team McPhee. “We totally approve!” the 90210 actress said. “We just want someone that’s going to treat him well and that cares about him, and I think he’s with someone right now that really does.”

While reminiscing on ending her run on the Broadway production of Waitress, McPhee spoke about her experience finding love with Foster. “I fell deeply in love with this show; I fell in love with my then-boyfriend and later got engaged during this show,” she wrote via Instagram in January 2020. “I lost my father during this show; I lost my voice in between doing the show; and then I got married during this show. There have been so many highs and lows, and yet every night, coming to the theatre to tell this story has never failed me.”
