After watching her rocky romance with Craig Conover, some Southern Charm fans thought Naomie Olindo found The One in Metul Shah … until their messy split.
The France native first appeared on Bravo during season 3 of the reality series after reconnecting with Conover, whom she met at the College of Charleston. The twosome split in 2017 and Olindo moved on with Shah in 2018.
“Babies like him better than me. Kids like him better than me. Adults like him better than me. My own family likes him better than me,” she captioned a since-deleted Instagram photo with Shah in 2019.
Later that year, he made his debut on Southern Charm after a lot of convincing from Olindo.
“He wanted nothing to do with it. But he did it for me which is really nice. I know he didn’t want to. But he handled it like a champ,” she told Decider in May 2019 before gushing about him. “He makes me want to do better. He’s an amazing dancer, I have probably hundreds of videos of him dancing. Metul, he’s really helped me [see] I don’t need to go out all the time and people also shouldn’t be pressuring you to do it. I definitely go out less and am home a lot more but I’m so much happier that way.”
As the pair celebrated three years of dating in 2020, news broke that Olindo wasn’t returning for season 7 of Southern Charm. She and Shah subsequently left South Carolina and moved to New York City for his job.
“Charleston farewell tour begins,” he wrote alongside a photo with Olindo on May 3, 2021.
Two months later, the fashion designer admitted that she was having a hard time adjusting.
“I want to start a small/discussion group in New York for girls struggling to meet friends. I’m thankful to have some friends here already but I cannot imagine moving to a new city and knowing NO ONE,” Olindo wrote via Instagram in July 2021. “Making friends as adults is hard and I want to help women feel less alone. Would you come?? Omg what if no one came and it was just me that showed up???? Spiraling.”
That same month, speculation surfaced that the pair split after he was caught cheating. Olindo’s agent confirmed on July 12, 2021, that the twosome are “no longer together” as she is “back in Charleston and plans to stay there for the time being.” Olindo seemingly confirmed the cheating accusations — which Shah has yet to publicly comment on — via a teary Instagram selfie.
“Nothing will be worse than losing my dad but this is a close second,” she wrote. “Betrayal is never easy for anyone and I’m just so sorry to anyone else that has stumbled across those terrible messages.”

After appearing in a guest role for three seasons, Olindo was promoted to a series regular for season 6 of Southern Charm and fans saw glimpses of her romance with Shah during the season, which aired from May 2018 to August 2018. Tommy Garcia/Bravo
The pair celebrated their two-year anniversary in April 2020. “My greatest muse; my family, friends, and i are so thankful you’ve put up with me for two whole years (we have no idea the actual day we started dating because it happened soon after we met, and i personally think it’s the 8th),” he wrote via Instagram at the time. “I speak for all of us when i say we love you wholeheartedly, pls don’t ever change your mind.” Courtesy of Metul Shah/Instagram
Olindo confirmed her exit from Southern Charm in a July 2020 interview, hinting that she didn’t want to disrupt her personal life with Shah after Cameran Eubanks’ husband Jason became the topic of false cheating rumors. “I’m so thankful for what the show gave me because it does open a lot of doors and there are a lot of advantages then it comes a time when the good doesn’t outweigh the bad anymore where it’s time to walk away,” she said on the “Skinny Confidential” podcast at the time. “Personally, I feel like I walked away at a time that was right for me and that’s how Cam and Chelsea feel too and you know other people that aren’t ready to walk away and want to keep doing it, that’s their prerogative and I’m very supportive of that. I still love most of the people on there.” Heidi Gutman/Bravo

In mid-July, news broke that Olindo and Shah split amid speculation that he was unfaithful. “So many of you have reached out saying you’re feeling a similar pain,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “I’m so so sorry.” Courtesy of Metul Shah/Instagram
As news of the duo's breakup and Metul's potential cheating scandal continued to make headlines, Olindo shared that fans had been supporting her via her online L’Abeye boutique. “Not y’all almost crashing the @shoplabeye site because my life is in shambles,” she wrote via her Instagram Story on July 14. “I LOVE YOU people so much. Olindo spoke out about her split from Shah during an appearance on the “Skinny Confidential Him & Her” podcast, detailing how she learned of the doctor’s alleged affair. The TV personality recalled needing to use Shah’s computer to show her friends something about their upcoming trip to France while she was packing up their belongings ahead of their summer of 2021 move to NYC. “It was, like, a year's worth of texts with his ex and explicit pictures and, you know, the whole nine yards. So I read through them for a little bit,” she claimed, noting Shah’s alleged messages with his ex Sophie popped up when she opened his computer. "So I called him back. I could tell he sounded panicky on the phone, but I didn't understand why. I didn't realize it's because he knew I was probably about to see what was on his iMessage 'cause I never looked through his stuff. I would never, I'm just not that way. And I called him, and I was, like, 'Hey, I just want you to know, I saw the messages with Sophie and this is done.' And hung up the phone, and he tried to call me, you know, a hundred times.” The Blueprint to Breakup cocreator recalled “begging” Shah to stop calling her after they split, explaining how hard it made it for her to really move forward. “The process afterwards was really difficult because when somebody is that narcissistic and they try to come back into your life, they’ll say all the right things. They know exactly what they’ve been withholding from you, like, previously in the relationship what you crave,” she told the listeners. “’Cause I would express my needs, but they would just not get met. And I was like, ‘Well, maybe this is a trade-off, you know, he doesn’t scream at me. He doesn’t call me names. So I’m alright, I’ll take it.’” Looking back, she revealed, “I think I just wanted to feel loved. I don’t think that he ever truly loved and accepted me. It was always what he thought I could offer him or what he thought he could gain. It was never about who I was.” Courtesy Naomie Olindo/Instagram
The reality star also shared the red flags that indicated the twosome were headed for a split during her “Skinny Confidential Him & Her” podcast appearance, claiming Shah was always focused on her monetary success. "There were a lot of signs about him just not having the right priorities. The way he just wouldn't really care if I was talking about a problem with a friend but then would perk up if I started talking about anything financial,” she alleged. “He'd be like 'How much did you make on this?' Things like that. Like he wanted these Saint Laurent boots once I remember, and instead of being like, 'Hey, will you buy me these boots?' He'd be like, 'Look, they make them from men and women. We could match, we should get them.' And I'd be like, 'Oh yeah, we should get them,' and I would buy them." Despite feeling “completely brokenhearted for weeks,” Olindo said that she is now in a much better place personally. "I don't think there's anything [to say to Metul now] and I definitely don't hold any, like, hatred for him. I really wish him the best. I just don't think he's even really worth me having any negative feelings or any feelings at all at this point,” the Southern belle concluded. “I'm six months out so if you're listening to this and you know, you're struggling through your breakup, you don't know what to do, promise you it gets better. This is me telling you, you know, and listen to yourself because nobody knows better than you.” Courtesy Naomie Olindo/Instagram; Courtesy Metul Shah/Instagram
