For better or for worse! Jana Kramer and Mike Caussin have experienced many highs and lows throughout their relationship.
The actress and the former football player tied the knot in 2015, but their marital bliss didn’t last long. Less than a year after Kramer gave birth to their daughter Jolie in January 2016, Us Weekly broke the news that Caussin cheated on her with multiple women. He subsequently entered treatment for sex addiction.
The twosome later reconciled and renewed their vows in December 2017.
“Two Christmases ago … I didn’t know if we were going to make it. I didn’t say we weren’t back together,” Kramer told Us in January 2018. “It was a very strange feeling. But this last Christmas was really refreshing because we were together. Yes, we were in L.A. away from our family, but we were together at the end of the day, and that felt perfect to me. It was really relaxing. We went for a nice long walk on Christmas day.”
She added that renewing their vows was “a really amazing healing experience” for the couple.
“I feel like it’s weird. I never want to say I am grateful for the experience, because every day is a struggle to stay connected and be together,” she said. “But at the same time, it has made us so much stronger. So I don’t know what tomorrow can bring or the next day, but I just know that we’re both actively working at it. I think for us, renewing our vows, was something like we’re both committed to each other and letting the past be something that fuels us to be better people.”
After suffering a miscarriage, the twosome expanded their family, welcoming son Jace in November 2018. Their relationship still had its issues, however, and they started documenting their struggles on their “Whine Down” podcast.
“I told Michael the other day, I was just like, ‘I don’t believe that there won’t be another time, and that sucks to have to feel that,’” Kramer admitted on an October 2019 episode after she found a naked photo on Caussin’s phone. “Because how can I believe that when I’ve heard so many times ‘I’ll never do it again. I’ll never do it again.’ So, it kinda puts me in this really awkward situation, and it makes me look weak to be continuing to stick around whether he did something or he didn’t. And I believe that he didn’t. Like, I know it wasn’t a real person, I know all those things. But it doesn’t matter.”
She added: “I’m not saying it’s weak to stay, I’m not saying it’s weak to leave. I’m just saying for me personally and where I’m at and how many times … I’m now like, it’s weakening me by staying.”
Us confirmed in April 2021 that Kramer pulled the plug on their marriage after nearly six years.

Kramer revealed that she suffered a miscarriage in December 2017. “I don’t want I’m sorry or sympathy. I just don’t want to feel alone,” she wrote in a heartbreaking Instagram post. “This, unfortunately, isn’t my first loss. When I first found out I was pregnant I wanted to shout it from the rooftop, but I know for reasons like this we have to wait. So because we don’t tell many, we have to suffer silently … and suffering silently was my thing in the past, but it’s not now.”

During a March 2019 episode of her “Whine Down” podcast, Kramer revealed that the former football star suffered a “massive” relapse in his sex addiction about a year prior. “But no sex outside the marriage,” Caussin clarified. “I’m not minimizing cheating because we have other things in Jan and [my] discussion of boundaries that’s cheating. But no sex outside of the marriage. I just want people to be clear that there wasn’t any other affair since that moment.” The One Tree Hill alum added: “Yes, it wasn’t physical out of the marriage, but it was something where the action was basically … We’re just basically happy that someone didn’t show up. … I showed up at the hotel instead, if you really want to know.”

In an October 2019 episode of their podcast, the couple talked about a recent incident in which the football player didn’t tell Kramer about a topless photo he received from a woman he claimed he didn’t know. Caussin deleted the text, but the Dancing With the Stars alum later found the text on her husband’s smartwatch. “I saw it, and … my heart just fell. I was like, it’s here. It’s happened again. I’m such a f—king idiot … Like, how is this happening again?” she said in the episode. “I don’t want to live this kind of life. We just moved into this beautiful house, and we had our second kid, and we fought so hard. Why is this happening again?”

In celebration of the Christmas in Louisiana star’s 36th birthday, the couple jetted off to Chicago to enjoy a weekend away from their kids in early December 2019. Caussin surprised his wife with the trip, which included a stay in a fancy hotel in the Windy City, complete with a picturesque view. “The hubs spoiled me, we’re in the prettiest hotel ever!” Kramer shared on social media at the time. “Hubby for the win,” she captioned a photo of her birthday spoils, including a bottle of wine, flowers and treats. The lovebirds enjoyed their escape from Nashville by going ice skating and snuggling up in the cold weather.

The country singer sparked speculation in late December 2019 that she and her husband of four years were on the rocks. The speculation began when Kramer posted a solo shot on Instagram with the caption, “2019. Ur coming to a very interesting end…and for now, all I have to say is…Time heals all wounds.” The One Tree Hill alum further sparked split rumors after removing “wife” from her Instagram bio and taking Caussin’s name out of the title of their podcast. She later added her husband’s name back into the podcast title and put “wife” back in her bio.

The “I Hope It Rains” singer fueled split rumors further when she pulled “wife” from her Instagram bio in December 2019. Kramer also deleted Caussin’s name from their podcast, but she added both things back the following day. However, several posts of her and Caussin were removed from her Instagram.

The “I Got the Boy” songstress appeared to spend New Year’s Day 2020 apart from Caussin, sharing a cryptic quote via her Instagram Stories on January 1. “She has been through hell. So believe when I say, fear her when she looks into a fire and smiles,” the quote read. Kramer then wrote, “I love this so much!!! #2020,” alongside the photo. The actress later reposted a fan’s photo that quoted her song “Good Enough.” The lyrics read, “I wanna be good enough for me.”

In January 2020, Kramer recorded an episode of the couple’s “Whine Down” podcast without Caussin. Instead, she was accompanied by some of her mom friends and celebrity guest Shawn Johnson. During the episode, the actress opened up about having trust issues in her marriage.

The couple addressed their December 2019 setback during a February 2020 episode of their podcast. Kramer clarified that Caussin “didn’t physically cheat” on her. “There was a boundary that was broken that was harmful for me because it was a discovery. … It was such a big discovery with a boundary that was harmful to me and our relationship,” she explained.

Caussin and Kramer worked on their marriage by taking some alone time in February 2020. “2 days away to connect, laugh, unplug and redo our New Years. (We even watched the ball drop),” she shared via Instagram. “There’s nothing wrong with a redo and there’s no better time to rebuild than now. #rebuildingtogether #happynewyear.”

Kramer and Caussin reflected on his sex addiction recovery on the 4-year anniversary of “discovery day,” the day she first learned about his infidelities.
“It was a life-changing, really bad day, obviously, for both of us, but we were able to lean into each other and connect over it and have gratitude for where we are at now compared to four years ago,” Caussin said via Instagram Stories in July 2020.
Kramer added, “Holy hell was 4 years ago the worst day of both of our lives and damn did our world literally explode. But last night was the first time on this day that we were closer than ever. Sure, there were some tears but the connection was stronger than it’s ever been. I’m so thankful for the way Mike leaned in with empathy. That makes all the difference.”

Kramer and Caussin acknowledged they hit a “rough patch” in August 2020 as she filmed a Christmas movie. The confession sparked a conversation about whether Kramer has ever thought about having an affair of her own.
“I would be lying if I said I didn’t ever have that thought,” she told her husband on their “Whine Down” podcast. “[But] I don’t want to be the reason and then it evens it — I don’t like it. … For me, it wouldn’t be a physical affair, it would be emotional.”
Kramer explained: “We were in a little rough patch the last month. I told him, I was like, sometimes when you are away from your partner and maybe you’re receiving affirmations from other people, what you are lacking that is making you feel good … what is missing in our relationship that I’m not getting that I’m like, ‘Oh this feels good.’ And I think just, like, having that conversation too was good to point that out.”

In April 2021, Us confirmed that the singer filed for divorce. “‘It’s time.’ As I try to make sense of a reality I never wanted to believe could be possible again, those words have now become a reality,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. "I’ve fought y’all. I’ve loved hard. I’ve forgiven. I’ve put the work in. I’ve given everything I have, and now I have nothing else to give."

After the news of their split broke, a source told Us that Kramer discovered Caussin cheated again.
“Jana’s final straw came when she uncovered once again that [Mike] had cheated on her,” one source said, adding that she “uncovered a recent infidelity” that she couldn’t recover from.
Another source added, “This time she’s said it’s over for good. She wouldn’t have filed for divorce if she wasn’t serious about it.”
While she’s “heartbroken” over the situation, per the second source, she wants to keep things “amicable” for the kids.
Caussin, for his part, has yet to publicly comment.
