Larsa Pippen and Malik Beasley Drama: Everything We Know

A messy situation. Larsa Pippen and Malik Beasley found themselves in the hot water after they started spending time together in November, while Beasley was still married.

The Real Housewives of Miami alum, 46, was photographed with the NBA player, 24, in Miami, on November 23, but after the photos surfaced on December 1, things got complicated.

While Pippen is single — she separated from husband Scottie Pippen in 2018 after getting back together two years prior — the Minnesota Timberwolves player is married to Montana Yao.

Shortly after the photos of Larsa holding onto Beasley started to trend on Twitter, Yao, 23, reacted to the shocking sight on social media.

“Wow… I don’t even know this man,” she wrote on her Instagram Story the same day. “This is wild y’all I’m seeing it for the first time just like y’all.”

The former Denver Nuggets athlete shares son Makai with the model. The pair met in 2018 and tied the knot in March 2020. The couple welcomed their son in March 2019.

Larsa seemingly addressed the drama surrounding her interaction with Beasley the following day, sharing a quote on her Instagram Story. “Don’t always trust what you see on social media,” the quote read. “Even salt looks like sugar.”

The Chicago native’s comments also came after her eldest son, Scotty Pippen Jr., addressed the drama surrounding his mom on his Twitter.

“Focused on myself and my goals. I’m not responsible for nobody’s actions,” he tweeted on December 1. “All good over here.”

Larsa shares Scotty Jr., 20, Preston, 18, Justin, 15, and Sophia, 12, with her estranged husband. The former reality star and the NBA legend married in 1997. Larsa filed for divorce for a second time in 2018, after more than 20 years of marriage.

Beasley’s wife filed for divorce on December 8, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.

Not Feeling the Love

Larsa was slammed on Instagram on December 6 after posting a prayer for people “dealing with heartache” amid the Beasley controversy. “God, I pray for healing & comfort for anyone dealing with heartache,” her post read. “I pray that they find refuge in You in the midst of their pain. May You continue to give them the strength to keep going. To push through these dark moments & know You are with them every step of the way.”

Shortly after sharing the prayer on Instagram some followers tore Larsa apart for her timing. “I am thinking of Malik Beasley’s wife and son,” one follower commented. Another wrote, “She praying for her victims.” A third user added: “This one is savage @larsapippen but it’s a cold world so I guess I get it. But damn this is right between the eyes tough.”

“The last thing Larsa needs is attention,” a source told Us Weekly on December 7, noting Larsa had been spending time with her “best friends Michelle Pooch and Loren Ridinger” while in Miami. “She has been focusing on her kids and her jewelry brand that is going to be carried at Saks and other large retail stores.” The insider added that Larsa’s relationship with her eldest son, Scotty Jr., is good despite him “liking” tweets that shaded his mom amid the drama. “Scotty Jr. is focusing on basketball and talks to his mother and father daily,” the source said.

Homeless?

Yao claimed on December 9 that she and the couple’s son were “told to leave our family home 10 days ago, and just like you all I’m pretty confused.” In an Instagram statement, the California native noted that there has also been “no private or public addressing of the situation, nor any type of apology” since Beasley was seen with Larsa.

Cards on the Table

Larsa opened up about her relationship with Beasley during a February 2021 appearance on Hollywood Unlocked With Jason Lee, claiming she had spoken with the basketball player about his marital status before they began dating. “I googled them when I first met him — they weren’t together,” she said. “They had issues before. It had nothing to do with me, so I wasn’t thinking anything about it. If you spent a minute googling their situation, it wasn’t the ideal situation, way before me.”

Yao was denied “temporary spousal maintenance” in March 2021 by a Minnesota court following her December 2020 filing, Us Weekly confirmed at the time. The model was granted temporary child support in the amount of $6,500 per month for their son, Makai. Her request for a $15,000 advance from the estranged couple’s marital estate has been deferred and she was denied her request for $20,000 to pay her attorney’s fees.
