During a 1995 appearance on The Charlie Rose Show, Will shared the oddest comparison about himself to the equally iconic actors. “Eddie Murphy is funnier than I’ll ever be. Denzel is more powerful than I’ll ever be,” he began, “I think that my strength is that I can do everything well.”

When Will called for an emergency family meeting on Jada’s Red Table Talk series, he aimed to have an open discussion about his family’s eating habits. However, the conversation took a weird turn when the actor shared a TMI detail about the frequency of his bowels. “How many times do y'all poop in the course of the day?” he said in September 2019, adding: “I can go three days without.” Jaden then quipped, “That’s why your farts smell like that!”

During a Red Table Talk episode in September 2019, Will recalled how Jada and Willow poked fun at him over his vacation weight gain. “They started calling me Pudge Muffin,” he said after revealing he ate “four or five” muffins for breakfast each day on their yacht getaway. “I’d gotten up to 225 pounds and it was the most I’d ever weighed in my adult life. I got to 223 on Ali, and I got to 225 on the muffin boat.”

In an interview with Haute Living in 2013, Will admitted he doesn't treat his kids as if he owns them. "My style of parenting is very similar to that of my parents, minus the concept of ownership," he said. "We respect our children the way we would respect any other person. Things liike cleaning up their room. You would never tell a full-grown adult to clean their room, so we don't tell our kids to clean their rooms."

While promoting their flick After Earth, the father-son duo went off on an odd theory about patterns. Some of their musings included Will stating, "I’m a student of patterns. At heart, I’m a physicist. I look at everything in my life as trying to find the single equation, the theory of everything." To which Jaden added, "I don’t think our mathematics have evolved enough for us ... I think there’s, like, a whole new mathematics that we’d have to learn."

Will Smith faced criticism when it was revealed he turned down Jamie Foxx's role in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. In an interview with Empire in 2012, the actor said it was "one of the most amazing screenplays I had ever ever seen, [but] I was in the middle of Men In Black 3 and [Tarantino] was ready to go, and I just couldn't sit with him and get through the issues, so I didn't want to hold him up."

Willow Smith caused the Internet to melt when a picture surfaced of her in bed with her 20-year-old friend Moises Arias. Willow's mom Jada defended her young daughter, telling paparazzi after the incident: "Here's the deal. There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it. You're acting like covert pedophiles and that's not cool."

Don't compare the Smiths to the Kardashians, y'all! During an interview with Vulture in 2013, Will wouldn't allow his son Jaden to answer a question about how their family compares to the reality show clan. The After Earth actor held up his hand for Jaden to not speak and said to the interviewer, "Don’t." Adding, "You know, he’s never had to, to deal with those kinds of questions."

After gaining popularity with the single "Whip My Hair" in 2010, Willow decided she was over being a pop star. Will revealed his daughter wanted to just be a kid while speaking at Philadelphia's Temple University in 2013. "She said, 'Daddy, I want to go to school with my friends during the week, and I want to hang out with them on the weekends,'" Will reminisced. "At the peak of 'Whip My Hair,' she’s like, 'Daddy, I’m done.'"
During an interview with HuffPost Live in 2013, the mom of two addressed the longstanding rumor that she and Will have an open relationship. "No, I think that people get that idea because Will and I are very relaxed with one another," she said when asked. "But I've always told Will: You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay," she said, without going into further specifics.
