Ariana Grande Addresses Backlash to Her Manchester Pride Live Slot

Defending herself … again. Ariana Grande faced the controversy surrounding her headlining slot at the Manchester Pride Live event.

Celebs Fight Back on Social Media

“I saw many people discussing this so i wanted to chime in…. hope that’s okay,” the pop star, 25, began in a Wednesday, February 27, Twitter post that included a lengthy note.

Grande first clarified that she has “nothing to do with ticket pricing” before addressing the backlash she has received as a straight headliner at the LGBTQ+ event. “The lgbtq community has been so special to me and supportive throughout my entire career. The relationships i have with my lgbtq fans, friends, and family make me so so happy,” she wrote. “I want to celebrate and support this community, regardless of my identity or how people label me. And also i wanna visit a city that means so much to me.”

Celebrity LGBT Allies

She continued: “Lgbtq representation is incredibly important, and i’m always proud to share the stage with lgbtq artists! Over the years, pride events have been headlined by performers and artists of all sexual orientations and genders, including straight allies like Cher and Kylie Minogue. I do think there’s room for us to talk about these issues without equating a performance *for* an lgbtq audience with exploitation of the lgbtq community.”

Ariana Grande Through the Years

Grande concluded by clarifying her intentions behind agreeing to the opportunity. “If you truly feel like i didn’t deserve to be offered this spot, i respect that. But i did accept it excitedly and gratefully,” she explained. “I’m not claiming to be the hero of the community or the face of the lgbtq rights movement — i just wanna put on a show that makes my lgbtq fans feel special and celebrated and supported. That’s all i wanna do.”

The Grammy winner announced her performance on Monday, February 25. “Manchester babes, i’m so thrilled to be headlining pride. My heart,” she tweeted. “I cant wait to see u and i love u so so much.”

The event will take place on August 25, more than two years after 22 people were killed by a suicide bomber at her Dangerous Woman concert in Manchester. Grande previously staged her “One Love Manchester” benefit concert in the city in June 2017, less than a month after the fatal attack.

Buzzzz-o-Meter: Kourtney Kardashian's Fave Scent and More Celeb Must-Haves

Smell like a Kardashian — and throw your friends for a loop like Donald Glover . Kourtney Kardashian  doesn’t have to go to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory to find her Golden Ticket when fragrance brand Snif offers her favorite scent by the same name. “Have your tea and wear it too,” the company says of the fragrance, which features notes of “bergamot, black tea, green tea, golden maté, sage, galbanum (green, woody), incense, amber [and] vetiver,” according to their official website . Snif — which encourages shoppers to “trust your own damn nose” — promises buyers “accessible luxury” to their products, which also includes candles. The Kardashians star’s go-to Golden Ticket retails for $65, so you can channel the Poosh founder, 44, without breaking the bank. If your style is less subtle and more bold , look no further than Glover’s must-have MSCHF BWD sneakers , which are designed to appear as if they’re being worn backward. The footwear went viral after the Atlanta alum, 39,...

Red Carpet Date! Sophia Bush and Grant Hughes Attend WHCA Dinner

Finding The One! Sophia Bush has kept her romance with Grant Hughes relatively private since the pair were first spotted together in Malibu in May 2020. However, the FocusMotion Health founder has shared a few photos of the couple. Ever since landing the role of Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill in 2003, Bush’s personal life has made headlines. That is something that the actress and activist has intentionally changed, she explained in June 2021. “It’s hard to have nothing that’s yours. And when you are a person who lives in the public eye, everybody wants to pick over everything and that can be really tricky,” the False Positive actress told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “I also grew up in the early aughts when girls were raked over the coals for any choices that they made. And I just was like, ‘I don’t think I like this.’ I didn’t like having my private life lied about. There were times where someone would send through an article and be like, ‘Well, supposedly you’re dating t...
