Chrissy Teigen, John Legend Talk Kimye, 2020 Election Pick in ‘Vanity Fair’

Love conquers all! Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were open books while discussing their relationship, famous friendships and politics in the December 2019 issue of Vanity Fair.

The couple, who have been married since September 2013, posed for the cover of the magazine with their 3-year-old daughter, Luna, and 17-month-old son, Miles, outside their Beverly Hills home.

During the accompanying interview, Teigen, 33, and Legend, 40, reflected upon the beginning of their relationship, which began in 2007 after she starred in his “Stereo” music video.

“He was kind of known at the time for either being in the closet or a modelizer,” the Cravings cookbook author said. “I used to go on the websites and it was always either how I was his beard, or how he paid his past serious girlfriends, or how he was with some new model. Oh, my God, I would read everything.”

The EGOT winner added, “It got serious pretty quickly. She just entertained the hell out of me, texting me. What people respond to in her tweets today was the same energy in those texts. I didn’t know that I wanted someone funny until I was actually with someone funny.”

Teigen, who has nearly 12 million Twitter followers, explained to the publication that she tends to be so carefree and often cracks jokes on social media as a result of her quiet upbringing.

“I think I’m such an open person now because everyone in my family has always been so hush-hush,” she said. “I love attention and affection. I want to be direct with everyone.”

Their 2020 Election Pick

“My favorite — I’m going to say it, we’ll break news today — is Elizabeth Warren,” the singer revealed. “She’s the best candidate running today and she comes at it with joy and with sincerity and with a wealth of knowledge and experience.”

The model — who, like her husband, has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump — echoed, “I love Elizabeth Warren. I also love Kamala Harris.”

John’s Current Relationship With Kanye West

Legend admitted that while he loves Kanye West and “everything we’ve done together creatively,” they were “never the closest of friends.” In April 2018, the rapper, 42, tweeted screenshots of his private text messages with the “All of Me” crooner after Legend asked him to “reconsider alining yourself with Trump.”

“I think what was always challenging about it was Kanye has never been political,” Legend told Vanity Fair. “I don’t think he knows one way or another what policies of Trump’s he likes. He just kind of embraced Trump’s blow-it-all-up spirit and the energy of himself being countercultural in supporting him.”

The Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert star and Teigen also shared their thoughts on West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, meeting with Trump, 73, on behalf of inmates seeking clemency. Legend called Kardashian’s visits “a cheap win” for the president, while the Lip Sync Battle cohort admitted she could not “physically muster that smile and handshake” that the E! personality, 39, had in the Oval Office.

The musician revealed to the magazine that he is releasing more holiday songs this year as a follow-up to his 2018 album, A Legendary Christmas. One of them is an updated version of the classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” featuring his fellow The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson. The lyrics include, “What will my friends think … / I think they should rejoice / … if I have one more drink? / It’s your body, and your choice.”
